______________________
The death is announced at Penton Place, Newington Butts, London SE of Mr Joseph Tabrar. He was 74 years of age.
in his earlier days Mr Tabrar composed many popular songs, the most popular of which, perhaps was "Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me a Bow Wow," first sung by Vesta Victoria.
Mr Charles Lucas, of Francis Day & Hunter (Ltd), the musical publishers, said to a reporter : - "I saw Mr Tabrar last month, when looked very fit, despite his age. He was a fine lyric writer for the variety stage, and many of his songs are still popular numbers in the programmes of the "Veterans of Variety.'
"He was a man of the most charming and generous personality. He was frequently too generous, perhaps for his own interests. His mind was vital to the last, and within the last year he talked to me about modernising his musical methods."
Joseph Tabrar was laid to rest in the Variety plot at Streatham Park Cemetery.
