PAUL PELHAM






PAUL PELHAM (1858-1919) was a talented Comic Vocalist, Dramatist and Song Writer, who wrote songs for many of his peers.

He was born GEORGE YOUNG on 22nd September 1858 in Homerton, Middlesex.  

 

He was the son of Devon-born artist Anthony Young (1817-1897) and Ann Vincent (1817-1893).  

 

He was baptised on 7th April in Hackney.  

 

He married Henrietta Fanny Mogg (1857-1917) on 6th June 1878 at St Peter's Church, Hackney.  

 

They had four children, George, Henrietta, Alice and John.  

 

One of his first performances as a comic was at London's Oxford Music Hall in November 1888.  He shared the bill with comedian Harry Randall,  The Sisters Collins and Frederick's Performing Cats, Rats and Birds. 

 

The late great Paul Pelham (George Young) died on 9th April 1919 aged 60.
