THEATRE IN EDUCATION
In 1985 our Founder and Director Adrian Barry, then a professional part-time actor, freelance designer and community support worker, established THE STAGE DOOR CHILDREN'S THEATRE WORKSHOP which provided accessible and affordable means of drama training for children and young people living in South East London and Kent.
In addition to the twice-weekly drama workshop sessions that involved improvisation, movement, mime, dance and performance skills, we delivered outreach activities that took performances out of the workshop and into Hospitals, Residential Home for the Elderly and Disabled as well as professional Theatres and Open Air Performances.

Our activities provided children and young people with the opportunity to express themselves, interact and extend their creativity which increase self-confidence and help attain life skills for the future.

The Stage Door Children's Theatre Workshop successfully ran for 21 years and many of its members went on to become professional actors, teachers, counsellors and follow careers in other areas of the theatre profession.

ILLUSTRATED LECTURES
and GUIDED WALKS

The Guild shares its knowledge of Music Hall, Theatre and Film past by providing illustrated lectures, exhibitions and guided walks to a wide variety of groups and organisations. Our lectures range from talks on the history of Music Hall to biographies on individual stage and screen performers.
We are regular contributors to U3A groups, alongside amenity societies and local history organisations. In addition our Guided Walks and Commemorative Blue Plaque programme recognises the important contribution made by theatrical performers to local heritage landscapes.

If you would like to receive a talk, lecture or guided walk for your group or organisation, please don't hesitate to get in touch - we look forward to hearing from you.
